Tips

David Bankier shared an Android Module for SIP integration for Appcelerator’s Titanium.

Tony Lukasavage didn’t publish part 3 of his Forging Titanium series, but he did give a video sneak preview of the result.

Pedro Enrique shared a working example of the new Appcelerator Mobile Web platform with a Roman Calculator. Check out the source!

Titan Gaurav Kheterpal shared a presentation on Slideshare: Android development made easy with appcelerator titanium.

Appcelerator’s Q4 Mobile Development Report was released last week. It is a must read to find out developer’s attitudes about platforms.

Tips

Adam Renklint has released Adamantium.js to the community. It is a chainable mobile app framework with jQuery-like syntax.

Graham Weldon shared a really great deck from his presentation: An Introduction to Titanium – Enough to get you into trouble.

Sean Biefeld shared a Simple Async HTTP Module for Appcelerator – a commonJS style wrapper around a HttpClient.

Not Titanium specific, but a Steve Dossick gives a good article ‘Developing on the Kindle Fire‘ that will allow you to run your Titanium apps on your shiny new Kindle.

Tony Lukasavage keeps Forging Titanium Episode with video Episode 15: Twisti Part 2 – 3D with Three.js

Jeff English shares how to Integrate an external library in an Android module over at the Appcelerator blog.

Pineheads.tv continues its videos on Titanium with Handling Remote Data with HTTPClient and XML RSS Part 3.

Matt Huggins gives a great example of extending Titanium with native modules in describing how he did Android Voice Recognition in Appcelerator Titanium.

This Week in Titanium Mobile Development: 14 Nov 2011

This is all the Titanium Mobile development news I’ve gathered from the Twittersphere and Interwebs for the past week.

News

Appcelerator Platform Engineering let us know how to get the Android v8 Runtime from the continuous integration builds. It is tagged as 1.8.0.1. If you try out V8, share your experiences on Twitter using the #titaniumV8 tag.

Interested to see the speed difference V8 will bring? criteriastudio shared a video of the same code running on iPad, Rhino, and V8.

Apple rejected some apps due to finding the word “Layout” in apps that it thought was a private API (it is not). Appcelerator acted quickly to address it. Here is the full history and a hopeful resolution.

Memonic posted on their blog ‘Why we are using Appcelerator Titanium‘. Good info here around cross platform app development strategy.
